Curriculum Vitae

Massimo Stefanizzi

Born in Venice, graduated from Venice Music Conservatoire, studying classical guitar (Angelo Amato), electronic music (Alvise Vidolin) and composition (Ugo Amendola), diploma with maximum marks.

 

Moved in 1982 to Bologna, studying musicology, and completed his studies in art, music and acting with a thesis in musical dramaturgy under Lorenzo Bianconi on Mozart’s The Magic Flute with distinction.

 

Active as a composer since 1985, among others his prize-winning composition Paradigma has been published.

 

Worked for the Venice Biennale from 1988 to 1999, sound engineer for the International Film Festival in Venice.

 

Took part in numerous national and international productions and festivals, e.g. at the Cantiere internazionale di Montepulciano, the Gulbenkian Foundation in Lisbon, Schönbrunn Palace, Austrian National Library, Vienna Konzerthaus.

 

CD and radio productions. Cooperation with the RIAS Jugendorchester Berlin, the European Touring Orchestra London, the Da Ponte Ensemble and with the Orchestra of the Gran Teatro La Fenice, Venice.

 

Worked for the theatre, including writing the music for “Bedbound” by Enda Walsh performed in 2003 in the Theater im Künstlerhaus, Vienna.

 

Collaboration with Leon Askin, documented in a film biography about the Hollywood actor.

 

In addition to numerous concerts, active as a teacher at the conservatoires of Venice, Sao Miguel (Portugal) and Vienna, regular master classes, especially in Italy.

 

Musicological publications since 1987 including on the communication of musical knowledge.

 

Since 1999 Stefanizzi has lived in Vienna where he teaches at the Conservatoire for Music and Dramatic Art and appears as a soloist.
